Net-progress has today made a preliminary launch of net-guide, their innovative accessible search engine and directory.

Whilst the search engine and directory conforms to high standards of accessibility, what makes it innovative is that all of the websites within its database also carry an accessibility rating.
“We felt that some users of the Internet would find it useful to know how easy a website would be for them to use before actually visiting”, said a spokesman for net-progress. “Initial testing has gone very well, and the overwhelming response from user groups has been very positive.”
The preliminary launch is intended to provide website owners with the opportunity to submit their websites before net-guide is formally launched to the public at the end of July 2004. Submission and accessibility evaluation is free.
